The reason Afua Asantewaa’s medical staff suggested she end her bid to set a Guinness World Record after five days has been revealed.
After spending 126 hours and 52 minutes trying to break the Guinness record, the journalist and former beauty queen called it quits.
The previous record for the longest sing-a-thon, set in 2012 by Indian Sunil Waghmare, was surpassed with 105 hours.
Heading Afua’s medical team, Dr. Grace Buckman explained that prioritizing her health was the reason for calling off the sing-a-thon.
It was observed by her that Afua was starting to exhibit symptoms of mental stress and that her lack of sleep was having an impact on her body.
We’ve come to the conclusion that, as a medical team, her wellbeing is crucial. We currently want her to take a break so she can return to us.
Afua is currently waiting for the Guinness World Record assessors to formally validate and verify her new record.
Her five-day attempt to beat the record began on December 24, 2023, and ended on December 29, 2023.
In addition, a number of well-known Ghanaians have descended upon Akwaaba village to show their support for the journalist and former beauty queen.
Actors and artists who have supported her in person over the past five days include Becca, Cina Soul, Sista Afia, Kwabena Kwabena, Eno Barony, Kobi Rana, Sarkodie, and Nana Ama McBrown.
