Though 4Kings, as they are collectively known, are highly recognized in Ghana for being famous lookalikes, they are more than just their transient fame.

Steve Quams, Robest, Future, Courage, and Robest recently discussed their lives in an interview on the Delay Show.

They all talked about their difficult pasts, including moving to Accra from their home villages and working odd jobs before becoming famous suddenly.

The exchange with host Delay went like this:

Hold-up: Let me start by telling me a little bit about Future. All that is known about you guys is that you look like certain musicians.

Future (the doppelgänger of Mr. Drew): I attended Awoshi for both my junior high and senior high school (JHS and SHS), having been born in Lapaz. My father, Ofaakor, and mother both remain in Obuasi. After class 5, my dad stopped being interested in me. I continued my education in Visual Arts at Abetify Presby after attending Glorious Mission School.

I was employed by Abossey Okai as a spare parts dealer after school. After that, I went to work for a company that sold sachet water. Before returning to Abbosey Okai’s spare parts business, I also worked as a barber.

The lookalike of Eugene, Steve Quamz: I was born in the Eastern Region at Asuom Kade. My mother, who is a single parent, looked after us while my father is away. I have numerous step-siblings but only four biological siblings because my father had three wives. In 2018, I moved to Accra from Asuom Senior High.

I stayed with my brother in Ashongman, Accra, after school and worked as a grocery attendant.

Robest (replica of King Promise): Although I was raised in Koforidua, Eastern Region, I was born in Breman Asikuma, Central Region. I have a sister, and I am the first of two siblings. I finished in 2017 from Goka SHS in the Brong Ahafo Region.

It is only five months since I relocated to Accra. I’ve always simply done music after school—never taken on odd jobs. Prior to my notoriety, I worked as a lookalike. I scout for other people who resemble me by traveling from region to region.

In 2018, I moved to Tema after school. I operated a mobile money business before that. In addition, I had experience operating a printing machine to make t-shirts.

By happenstance, the buddies connected with Robert on social media and began the “craze” of lookalikes as a means of escaping their hustle.

4Kings stated they are working hard and are thinking about switching to music full-time, despite the fact that path is not without its challenges.
