Didier Drogba becomes Club President of the E1 Competition Championship.

In the UIM E1 World Championship, Didier Drogba, one of the most well-known football players of the past 20 years, and his partner Gabrielle LeMaire will take over as club managers.

The Ivory Coast striker, who competed for Shanghai Shenhua, Marseille, Galatasaray, and Montreal Impact in addition to winning four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea between 2004 and 2015, will field his own team, Team Drogba, under the vibrant Ivory Coast flag for the world’s first-ever all-electric raceboat championships, which kicks off subsequently this year.

In the E1 World Championship, Drogba becomes the newest celebrity team owner, joining seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady. Brady was introduced in July.

The other two are world-class tennis player Rafael Nadal and Formula One racer Sergio Perez of Red Bull.

With his partner Gabrielle, Drogba has become a prominent figure in the promotion of environmental consciousness and sustainability both during his career and in retirement.

Aiming to rehabilitate the marine habitats on the waterfronts of the cities where the E1 Series races at scale, Drogba’s leadership in environmental protection and sustainability is in line with the program’s Blue Impact initiative. Leading scientist at E1, Carlos Duarte is a world-class marine biologist who will spearhead the E1 Blue Impact program.
