Chef Faila seems to have stepped on some toes the day after her 227-hour cookathon at the Modern City Hotel, where she received a lot of support from Ghanaians.
She has been receiving backlash from certain social media users for remarks she made during an interview she gave to Joy Prime in the wee hours of Friday, January 12, 2024.
Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak conveyed her unhappiness in the interview regarding the nonattendance of prominent Ghanaian artists such as Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, and Samini at her Cook-A-Thon Guinness World Record attempt in Tamale.
She claimed that because the leader of the Shatta Movement had previously stated on his Facebook page that he would be visiting Chef Faila in the same manner that she did for Afua Asantewaa Aduonum during her singathon, she anticipated Shatta Wale to be present to support her.
In the conversation, Chef Faila stated: “Everyone would have been talking about it if it was something bad about the North.” Not a single well-known musician supported North on this endeavor. Not Stonebwoy, Samini, Shatta Wale, etc.
“Kwanaba Kwabena was the one who made the transition. There were high hopes that some of the artists from this angle, who we greatly admire, would appear and lend their support. Chef Faila continued, “Believe me, I can sing Stonebwoy or Shatta Wale’s song to amaze you, but nobody showed up for us, so they owe us an apology.”
Since many of them believed she was being ungrateful and entitled, the comment has outraged a lot of people, even some of the large crowd that came out to support her.
Some of these online commenters believe that instead of criticizing people who were unable to attend the event, she ought to thank those who showed up to support her.
